Introductory Letter
Dear Mr. Grove,
I would like to begin by introducing myself, my name is Janeli Suriel. I’m currently a junior at CCNY as a full-time student while maintaining a job. I would like to call myself a very optimistic person but also very caring. I grew up in a Dominican household with four older sisters. The reason why I have such high standards is because I was taught at a young age that education should always be your main priority. It can open so many doors for you but you have to put in that hard work for them to open.
The field of science I plan on pursuing is Biology. Biology has always had me questioning its wonders, it’s a very unique subject to me. I have learned so much already from the science courses I have taken. My main goal is to obtain my B.S. in Biology. Additionally, I plan on obtaining my master’s degree to become a Physician Assistant. I was very hesitant on joining the doctor route but for personal reasons, it just isn’t for me. The main reason why I decided to become a P.A. is because it has great flexibility and the schooling is very minimal. I would have the opportunity to work independently and practice medicine. Becoming a P.A., you have many options for specializations. You’re never stuck on one entitlement and that provides numerous opportunities. As of right now, I’m deciding between urgent care and emergency medicine but I’m leaning more towards emergency medicine. In case of an emergency, I know how to respond under pressure situations. Part of me being able to do that is because I’m a lifeguard, that rush and anticipation is an unexplainable feeling.
My main goals as a student at CCNY is pushing myself to work harder. I believe I have the full capacity but I could be doing better. Specifically, understanding my classes on a level where I’m most comfortable at. I analyze decent when it comes to reading but I can improve on the deeper meaning the author might be trying to prove. It’s very easy to skip the deeper message and just look at it from a broad perspective. Sometimes, it benefits for that deep idea because it could affect an individual in numerous ways. For this class, I trust I can facilitate those goals. I know the readings won’t be easy but it will allow me to question what the author is trying to say. I general, I would like to improve my writing skills. I’m not the best writer but I’m great when it comes to organization and creating a unique flow throughout my papers.
Warm regards,
Janeli Suriel
